Reimagining aged care

The ITAC Conference heads to Brisbane in 2026

The Innovation Transforming Aged Care (ITAC) Conference returns 6 to 7 May 2026, bringing together leaders, providers, researchers and technology partners who are committed to working alongside one another to shape the future of aged care.

This premier event showcases the nexus of technology and innovation and ways we can reimagine supporting people as they age.

The aged care sector is navigating significant change. Providers are continuing to balance increasing demand, a shifting regulatory environment and ongoing workforce challenges. Technology is no longer an optional extra but something that can be embedded within every interaction, to make processes more efficient and improve quality of care.

The ITAC Conference provides a space to explore what’s possible and to learn from others about their initiatives and what has been successful. Natasha Wilkinson from Donwood Community Aged Care in Victoria, who attended the 2025 conference in Melbourne,, was motivated to take part to learn from others about the technological advances that are working for them.

“What I wanted to get out of the conference was to understand how technology can bring about more efficiencies for the staff and better outcomes for our residents. Hearing from some of the speakers has given me the opportunity to grow some areas of our business,” said Natasha.

Alongside the peer-to-peer interaction and support, the ITAC Conference provides an opportunity to explore emerging trends in a hands-on way. In the popular trade hall exhibition, delegates have the chance to see new technology in operation, connect with innovators, and discuss real world applications that support better outcomes for clients and staff.

Next year’s program will continue to raise the bar, by bringing forward new perspectives, practical strategies and innovative ideas that can help aged care providers respond to the challenges and opportunities ahead. Through keynote addresses, interactive panels and discussions, each session will encourage conversation, build knowledge and inspire meaningful change.

“The ITAC Conference is such a powerful showcase of the innovation happening right across our sector. Bringing the conference in-house this year really reflects Ageing Australia’s commitment to leading that innovation. It also allowed us to broaden the reach of ITAC – with more than 600 attendees and 70 vendors taking part – and we expect the 2026 event to be even bigger,” said Ageing Australia Chief Executive Officer Tom Symondson.

“We have a huge opportunity to push the boundaries of what aged care can be and to drive real innovation. Bringing together the most inspiring thinkers and innovators is one of the ways Ageing Australia can support meaningful change. When we come together to explore new ideas and possibilities, we invest not only in our organisations – but in the future of care for older Australians.”

The ITAC Conference is made possible through Ageing Australia’s InnovAGEING program, the support of our Chief Technology Advisor Dr George Margelis, and our dedicated InnovAGEING team.

Also returning in 2026 will be the ITAC Awards, which recognise excellence in the following areas: technology transformation, research and development, capacity building and data insights. We invite all aged care providers to consider nominating for these categories, to help shine a light on what the sector is already doing and what’s possible for others.

Registrations for the ITAC Conference are open with early bird rates available for a limited time. To find out more and register as a delegate or exhibitor, or to enquire about sponsorship opportunities, please visit our website.
