The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety recently released the ICT Strategy and Architecture Review Report, written by the Architecture Practice (TAP). This report, released on the 23rd November 2020 assesses the current state of aged care systems and outlines a range of issues and recommendations. The report found that many of the problems within the aged care sector relate to disconnected business processes, a lack of data collection and sharing and obsolete technology, among other things.
Throughout the report, the Aged Care Industry Information Technology Council’s research into the aged and community care sector was featured, including results from our Capabilities in Aged & Community Care Readiness: An Evaluation of Innovation & Technology(CARE-IT) report. Information was gathered from the key findings of the CARE-IT report and related to the digital maturity of the aged and community care sector and the platforms used by providers and older people. The CARE-IT report findings were utilised in the report to assist TAP in outlining issues with the technology used by providers.
The ICT Strategy and Architecture Review Report will contribute to the Royal Commission’s aim in improving the quality of care and safety provided for older Australians.
